Audre Lorde: The Uses of Anger I Sunday, May 18 I Online I 12:00 - 2:00 PM US EST
In her 1981 speech “The Uses of Anger: Women Responding to Racism,” Audre Lorde argued that anger and rage are the result of racism and sexism, but that anger is not futile. Instead, it is “loaded with information and energy” that must be actively translated into meaningful social change. In this workshop, we’ll learn about Lorde’s life and introduce ourselves to her powerful ideas about anger by engaging with key parts of her speech to study how can we tap into our rage in a way that feels powerful and empowering.
SLIDING SCALE: Philosophy for liberation is committed to making education accessible. A sliding-scale is available for students who are BIPOC [black, indigenous, and people of color] and/or anyone in economic need. For 50% off, use promo code: UsesofAnger50. For 75% off, use code UsesofAnger75.
