In her 1981 speech “The Uses of Anger: Women Responding to Racism,” Audre Lorde argued that anger and rage are the result of racism and sexism, but that anger is not futile. In this workshop, we’ll learn about Lorde’s life and introduce ourselves to her powerful ideas about anger by engaging with key parts of her speech to study how can we tap into our rage in a way that feels powerful and empowering.
